Setting the Course

Now that we have set sail, it is time to set the course. Any of you that are reading this, and have experience with sailing and such, please feel free to correct me on my use of nautical language, being that I have absolutely no experience with this kind of thing. Be that as it may, it is time to set the course. Oddly enough the message brought by our pastor this morning was on this very subject.

Where are you headed? I am asking myself the same question. Am I heading in the direction of personal satisfaction through material things, wealth, prestige, pride, and glory, or am I headed toward finding my satisfaction in Jesus Christ and the future that I have in Him. Anything short of the latter is hypocrisy. Are the works that I perform works founded in the love of Christ, or are they works that I hope will benefit me? I must constantly ask myself these questions in order to stay on the course that has been set.

Today I pray that we will all be mindful of the course. As we look out onto the horizon, and the sun begins to set, we see a lighthouse. The lighthouse is the goal, Jesus Christ reflecting from our lives, as we work our way through our travels on this earth. Set the course for the lighthouse, do not let the boat drift off course, and find our boat smashing into the rocks of hypocrisy. Instead we find the channel, and ultimately finish the journey in the safe harbor of Jesus.

Is there a more wonderful and productive way to worship our Lord then to live a life that is on course? Allow God to have full control of the boat, be obedient in the commands that He gives, and find the greatest joy that anyone can have by finishing the journey in the hands of God.

I didn't think it completely fair to write a bio for Beach Beauty on my own. Instead I thought I would give you a definition of her that she used a while back. She is Supermom and that is an understatement. Aside from all that you will see in the following definition she is also the best wife in world. God gave me the most precious wife. She is patient, kind, loving, steadfast, and strong. Most importantly she is a child of the Most High King of Heaven.

Here is her definition of Supermom.

I am Supermom.I have the power of multitasking. Loving, teaching, cooking, cleaning, fixing boo-boos, fixing fights, playing Pretend, exploring, organizing, fixing broken toys, fixing broken hearts, distracting, encouraging, and TOO MUCH MORE to list. My power? Comes from the one true God, my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pu Ca Shell is the oldest of our three kids. I never cease to be amazed at her thirst for knowledge. If you have heard the cliche that kids are like sponges always soaking up everything around them, well it is very true about Pu Ca. She is constantly reading and asking questions. She loves the beach, I think she finds herself lost in the ever changing environment that is ever changing under God's mighty hand. Sea shells, beach foam, small clams, sand, drift wood, jellyfish, and everything else we find on the beach is a new treasure or investigation. How I long to be see the world through the eyes of my precious Pu Ca shell.

Sea Breeze is the second child of three. Now if Beauty and I were true hippies we would have probably named her with this name. Why? you may ask. Sea Breeze is just that, she is a constant breath of fresh air. I have said since the day she was born that she marches to the beat of her own drummer, and the fact still remains today. She is always finding new ways to entertain herself. Many times you will find her playing alone, and yet totally into the game she is playing. Her imagination is so huge, and random at times. The one thing that is constant about Sea Breeze is that there is seldom a time when she is not singing. It's as if there is always a song playing in her head, and most of the time that song just comes out. She is always good for a laugh, and will put a smile on any face that comes in contact with her.

Surfer Boy is the youngest of the three beach bum kids. If I were to say that I'm not a little bit proud to finally have a son, I would be lying. He is very much all boy, always into everything, and rough while doing it. You will seldom find Surfer Boy with a bad attitude, or without a smile. His smile lights up the room, and makes every heart melt. While at the beach he is quick to get away and run down the beach in search of something. I haven't figured out what the something is, but it might be sea gulls. Sand is one of his favorite foods on the beach, atleast that is what I'm figuring being that we constantly find him shoveling it into his mouth like large handfuls of popcorn.
